Dana Schirmer, Executive Director
Dana manages the Home Office in Topeka, Kansas. One of his many duties is to plan and run the annual
Convention. Dana Has been the CALLERLAB Executive Director since June 2009.
He started dancing in 1968 and began calling in 1978. He has served two terms on the Board of Governors and has served on staff at Kirkwood Lodge providing dance entertainment to non square dance families vacationing at the Lake of the Ozarks. Dana also Conducts caller training sessions for newer callers and was the Business Chairman for the 57th National Square Dance Convention to be held in Wichita, Kansas in 2008.
Dana met his wife Donna through square dancing and they were married in 1994. Dana retired from the Santa Fe Railway in 1996 as Manager of Financial Reporting and Budgets. He then went to work for Heartland China, Inc. as Office Administrator and Controller. In 2000 he and Donna bought the company and operated it for four years. They sold the company in 2004. Donna is employed by Bartlett and West Engineers in Topeka, KS.
Jerry Reed, Assistant Executive Director
Jerry performs his duties as Assistant Executive Director and lives in Rockledge, Florida. He provides support to the Home Office as directed by the Executive Director. Jerry served as the CALLERLAB Executive Director from June 1999 to June 2009 and has been the CALLERLAB Assistant Executive Director since June 2009. He began calling in 1978 and joined CALLERLAB in 1983. He calls for a Plus club and an Advanced club. Jerry has recorded on the Rawhide Record label and travels regionally.
Jerry and his wife Del met at a square dance and were married in 1992. Del is a semi-retired Registered Nurse working part-time for Brevard Hospice and Jerry has retired from the U.S. Navy and from Lockheed Missiles & Space Company.
Gail Swindle, Administrative Assistant
Gail Swindle, born and raised in Georgia, met John Swindle and began square dancing in 1961 under the tutelage of Rod Blalock. Gail and John were married in 1964 and moved to Tennessee and then back to Georgia in 1965. After raising their son, Barry, Gail went to work with the Supreme Court of Georgia, Office of Bar Admission as an Application Analyst. Gail was employed with the court system for twenty years. Gail has been involved with square dancing for 40 years and has assisted John in his calling career. Around the same time Gail and John retired and moved to Melbourne, Florida, Gail read a notice in a local publication, the CALLERLAB Office would be relocating to the Melbourne area and Jerry Reed, would be staffing the Florida office. In January 2000 the Florida office opened in Cocoa, Florida, with Gail as Office Manager/Secretary. Gail and John now live in Rockledge, FL.
Wade Morrow, Administrative Assistant
Wade Morrow was born and raised in Shelby, NC and served four years in the U. S. Air Force. He square danced early in life and recently returned to the activity with his wife Laura by joining the Happy Time Squares located in Lawrence, KS, Vic Perry as their club caller. In October 2008 Wade enrolled at the “Kaw Valley Caller School” with Dana Schirmer as the instructor. Wade attended his first CALLERLAB convention in 2009 and offered his services to CALLERLAB shortly thereafter by applying for a position in the new CALLERLAB Home Office. Wade, Laura and their daughter Lydia reside in Lawrence, KS.
