Group Insurance

CALLERLAB Members, Associate Members, and Apprentices who live in the U.S. are automatically enrolled in CALLERLAB’s group insurance program upon payment of their current dues and fees. Retired callers are not eligible to participate in the insurance program.

This program consists of three separate coverage policies:

Liability Insurance

The general liability, bodily injury and property damage portion of the policy provides liability coverage in the amount of $1,000,000 per occurrence, with an aggregate limit of $2,000,000 per caller, per event. It provides an umbrella of $5,000,000, again, $1,000,000 per occurrence. It will protect the caller for any acts, or omissions of acts, that result in bodily injury or property damage while the caller is calling square dances or related activities.

Medical
Coverage

The accidental medical portion of the policy extends to all registered participants at square dance related activities hosted by a caller. Maximum coverage is $10,000.  This coverage is effective only after any primary carrier, Medicare or other health insurance company has settled a claim.

Accidental Death & Dismemberment

The AD&D portion of the policy covers the caller while traveling to or from a square dance.  Coverage for accidental death is $25,000.  Coverage for accidental dismemberment may be as high as $25,000, depending on the loss.

Policy Conditions

These policies cover dancers of a caller hosted event.  These policies do not cover club dancers. Clubs must have their own accident and medical insurance, either through their homeowner’s policy or through their club in the U.S.D.A. (United Square Dancers of America).

“Related activities” include regular dances, workshops, classes, one night stands, contra, traditional dancing, round dancing and line dancing.  A caller’s partner is not covered by this insurance. Coverage is available for partners that cue round dances, line dances, or otherwise share responsibilities with the caller, by paying an additional premium. Contact the CALLERLAB Home Office for details. If a caller is dropped from membership, then the insurance for both the caller and the partner is null and void as of the date the caller is dropped from the membership rolls.

The policy year is April 1st through March 31st of the following year. If dues are not paid by April 1st, the insurance is not effective until full payment is received. The insurance cost is not prorated for members joining in mid-year. The premium is the same regardless of the date you pay your dues and fees.

Equipment Insurance

Theft of, or damage to, a caller’s sound equipment, records, tapes, book, etc, is not covered by the above insurance. Most homeowner’s policies won’t cover your professional equipment at your office, at home, or in your car.  Equipment insurance is available through an outside insurance company.  Providing this information is not an endorsement.  Members are responsible for their own arrangements and equipment insurance agreements.

Affiliated Organizations

Liability insurance coverage is also available to CALLERLAB Affiliated Organizations and their non-CALLERLAB members. Contact the Home Office for details.

Canada and Overseas

Canadian and overseas callers are not covered by CALLERLAB’s group insurance policies. We urge Canadian and overseas callers to contact their local organizations for their insurance needs.
